Teach Less and Learn More!!!
Recently, I was told that the Ministry of Education is encouraging the schools, or the teachers more specifically, to "Teach Less and Learn More"!!!
Hmmm... I am not sure how the teachers are going to do it? As I was just told, when a Head of Department in a certain school found my book, "15 Forgotten Secrets ...." useful and relevant for the students, a teacher (presumably a young one) immediately asked "where is the worksheet?"..........You see... There she goes again!!! Worksheets, assignments, homework, assessments etc...
HOW to teach less and learn more?
To learn more, the students need to interact more, discuss more and communicate more, NOT worksheet after worksheet!!!
I hope the younger teachers would learn to understand MOE instructions in perspective and be creative in their methods of teaching and delivery, and NOT to read the MOE instructions by the punctuations. I am speaking from my experience as a partner in adult and children education.
