From Single-Tasking to Multi-Tasking!!!

Do you still remember those days when many of us were using the 5-1/4 inch Floppy Disk, then came the 3-1/2 in Floppy Disk, and then the Zip Disk. Later years, came the CD-R and CR-RW, and most recently the DVD-R and DVD-RW. Of course, hanging with a strap over the neck of some of the office executives are the Thumb Drives which can store as much as 1GB of data or even more.

It is so easy and convenient to carry data around nowadays. This morning, when I was delivering the motivational talk at Boston Business School, it was the first time that I did not bring my own notebook PC. Instead, I brought only my thumb drive. It is that convenient!

Information Technology (IT) and its related products have certainly evolved and changed very rapidly. Back in the eighties, many of us were using Disk Operating System (DOS) where we could only run one computer programme or software at a time, if you remember Word Perfect and Word Star! But, today, we can run multiple windows programmes at the same time, as long as your RAM is large enough to support them. Basically, the computers nowadays are able to multi-task. What about us?

It is about time that many of us should learn to multi-task. It may seem impossible to do a few things at the same time. It may seem unconventional to do a few jobs at the same time. It may seem like a conflict of interests if we were to do a few businesses at the same time. Hmmmm.. this is the perception of many. I believe it would take a while for such an idea to gain acceptance and popularity.

In 1996, I already came across a book entitled "Multipreneuring". I have helped many of my friends and colleagues to buy the book at discounted price through bulk purchase. The idea presented made a lot of sense to me. Well, when the time is right, I would share more about this topic. That is all for now...
