A Leader in Every Student...

On 12 January 2006, with the coordination of Mrs Gloria Gurung, the Subject Head of Values Education in CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls' School, I had successfully conducted a one-hour Motivational Programme entitled "Secrets to Success". It was attended by about 750 students from Secondary One and Two.

CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls' School is a school that has as its mission, "A Christ centred school where all people work for the promotion of truth, justice, freedom and love; with a special awareness of the viewpoint of the disadvantaged."

After my talk, the Vice-Principal, Mdm Goh rounded up the session with her praises for those students who were listening attentively and even taking notes. She went around reading some of their written notes. Those who took notes would surely benefit the most from the motivational talk. Of course, there was a minority among the audience, who were a bit restless and inappropriate in their behaviour as Mdm Goh put it. She was quick to highlight the opportunity for further improvement.

With my own eyes and ears, I have witnessed the strong and effective leadership that has made the school a school of choice for many parents. The school leaders spare no effort to ensure that the vision is achieved, i.e. A Leader in Every Student.

I appreciate the partnership I have with the school. As stakeholders in education, we just want to give our best to the students.
