A Reflection - Giving and Loving

In life, sometimes, we perform acts of giving so mechanically without emotions and expressions of love. That's why, it is said that, "We can give without loving; but we can't love without giving." It is true. At times, we just give and give, but there is no element of love involved. Our giving has become a mechanical and habitual act. We are much like a living robot. So, let's learn to inject feelings and love into our giving without expecting any form of return or rewards.

Honesty is the Best Policy

We are always told, "Honesty is the best policy". Being honest makes life less stressful and so much simpler. When we start telling a lie, do you realise that we have to tell another lie to cover the first lie? And that goes on and on. When two of our friends come together to compare notes, they would soon discover the inconsistency in the lies. That when brought to light would create much embarrassment to the liar. Perhaps, he would lie that he is not embarrassed!

Some like to use the phrase "honestly speaking". Does it mean that when he does not say "honestly speaking" he is lying? Why do we need to say "honestly"? Think about the psychology behind this.

Integrity and honesty matter more than anything else. By telling the cashier at the grocery checkout counter that she has given us too much change, we make integrity and honesty matter more than money.
