Have enough FIBRE intake everyday to maintain a healthy COLON!

Click on the image for an enlarged view.

The Colon Health is made from pure premium Ispaghula Husk with no additives. It is commonly used for constipation or to facilitate gentle bowel movement and promote healthy colon. It is derived from the husks of the seeds of Plantago Ovata and contains a high level of soluble dietary fibre, commonly used in laxatives. It has also been studied as a "non-systemic" cholesterol-lowering agent and has been touted for its potential lipid-lowering function.

A dose of at least 7 grammes daily taken with sufficient fluid is used by some to manage elevated cholesterol. Most people take two sachets of Colon Health per day to maintain a healthy colon. Many of my friends have experienced good results, especially in bowel conditions. Frankly, most of us don't eat enough vegetables and fibres daily! So, this makes a very good dietary supplement.

To purchase Colon Health, go to this website.

Do not blame others...

"Take personal responsibility for the consequences of our own actions and decisions. Do not blame others." ... Jonathan Ooi

This quote was inspired by a conversation I had with a healthy and happy 70-year-old grandmother with sound parenting experience. She has parented three sons who are now successful in their respective career and business. Now, she is taking personal responsibility in parenting two of her grandchildren who have been misguided by their mother who does not really care about the education, character-building and wellbeing of her own children. The two grandchildren are now improving under her care. She does not believe in blaming others.

On the other hand, I knew of a person who would always blame those friends who suggested to her to go into a business where she lost a big sum of money eventually. In actual fact, she was too easy with her money and might be too greedy wanting to make more. She would also blame the people around her in whatever ways most unimaginable when she does not win her bet in 4D and TOTO when in actual fact, losing in betting is a given because of the law of probability. She would also blame others for not showing their care and concern towards her when she does not take the health advice people give her.

The problem is she does not take personal responsibility for whatever she has done and done wrongly!

Don't be arrogant!

"I'd rather be ignorant than to be arrogant as a result of more knowledge." ... Jonathan Ooi

When one gets too academic about knowledge, that is where the trouble starts. He no longer seems to live in the real world but in a theoretical one. He can't think, speak and feel like the men on the street anymore. As an educator myself, I am saddened to see some teachers who behave arrogantly and self-righteously and tend to "instruct" people everywhere they go.

I think the lesson we all should learn is: No matter how high we are in the hierachy of knowledge or position, always be humble and down-to-earth and learn to connect with people with a simple and common heart.

We are not short of people who are arrogant, like to show-off or are hypocritical! I had a Chinese Singaporean friend who refused to learn and speak Chinese Language! Reason: That would make him second-class! I always think he speaks through his nose! How arrogant he is huh!

There is this Chinese equivalent, <大智若愚> = A man of great wisdom appears like a fool. In other languages and dialect, "Act Blur" (Singlish), "Buat Bodoh" (Malay), "Tenh Gong" (Hokkien), "mai Hao Lian" (Teochew) = Don't be arrogant!

Stop worrying and start living...

"The mind that is anxious about future events is miserable." ... Seneca

Why worry about something that has not even happened? If it happens, deal with it. But, what if it doesn't happen and you worry so much about it, don't you think you have wasted your time and energy worrying for nothing? Such anxious mind brings misery into life everyday. I think we have to stop worrying and start living.

Does "a quantum leap" make sense?

"Every small incremental step makes a quantum leap." ... Jonathan Ooi

While there is always encouragement for us to go for a quantum leap in our performance in school and at work, more often than not, we find it hard to attain because it is too big a leap for most people to take from the state they are in right now. For example, a student who is failing his Mathematics, would not find the encouragement to score 100% something realistically within his reach. Hence, it usually remains a theoretical suggestion rather than a practical achievement.

But still, a quantum leap is a good target we should aim for. A more practical way to get around it is to take small, incremental steps, one at a time because as I said, "Every small incremental step makes a quantum leap." Do we get a degree straightaway immediately? We go through incremental steps of education ladder from kindergarten step-by-step to the university. Do we suddenly become an experienced engineer? No, we learn and progress step-by-step in our career path.

So, take heart! As long as we take incremental steps daily, we would still achieve a quantum leap at the end of it.

A little act of grace could bring happiness to someone in need...

I happened to speak to a mother of two young boys, whose husband was currently working abroad. She was reportedly strapped in a certain situation involving school admission for her elder son. She appeared helpless while simply hoping that her son would get a place in a school despite being placed on the waiting list without any assurance of a place.

Besides waiting, she was not sure what else she could do. I suggested that she sought the help of her Member of Parliament (MP) to explain her situation, hopefully the MP could render her some practical help. I knew jolly well that she would not know where to find the MP, and so when I finished my work, I went to a notice board and hand-copied the relevant information for her and brought that piece of information to her.

She was so pleasantly surprised when I appeared at her gate again. She was almost moved to tears. With much gratitude and appreciation, she thanked me profusely while telling her son what I have done to help him.

Frankly, what I did was just a simple act anybody or her neighbours could do. But, I guess most people are perhaps too busy with their own things. Most of us are blessed in one way or other, and it would be good if we could bless others in any way we can, sometimes, it does not take much effort, but the willingness to help.

The moral of this story is: A simple or little act of grace could bring happiness to someone in need.

Do you often feel a sense of regret after taking certain actions or making certain decisions?

"The input of new information and experience often creates in us a sense of regret that we should have acted or decided otherwise." ... Jonathan Ooi

In life and at work, we take many actions and make many decisions. But, somehow, there is always a sense of regret that comes on, after we have taken those actions or made those decisions. We usually feel that we should not have done certain things and regret that we have not done otherwise; similarly, we often regret over those decisions we made, for example, we feel that we have ordered the wrong dish, bought the wrong phone, got into the wrong job and perhaps married the wrong wife or husband. What is in your mind now? Are you thinking of some of those decisions you have made? You are not alone.

This is the result of the input of new information and gaining of new experience as time goes on. We tend to evaluate our previous decisions against new and current information and experience, and obviously, many things have changed along the way and in the process. So, the previous decision appears to be less satisfactory now.

But, we have to recognise that certain decisions are fixed and are long-term commitment whereas some others are variable and dynamic. It is not that easy to change or alter the decisions in the first category as it involves breaking the commitment, e.g marriage; whereas the second category could allow for some changes as time goes on, such as changing the brand of shampoo, avoiding a certain dish that did not taste good etc.

Therefore, we have to learn to be more careful when making decisions of the first category so that we do not end up regretting for life. The second case poses only a temporary sense of regret which would go away after a while.
